Re: HMS Callisto Ship’s Order 1604-02 – Letter of Commendation Award

On this date and by my Authority as Commanding Officer, HMS Callisto (BC-722), I award a Letter of Commendation to Senior Master Chief Power Mate William Underhill (RMN-1603-13) for going above and beyond in his role as the ship’s Records and Training Chief.

Over the past year Chief Underhill has not only been extremely diligent in his maintenance of files relating to the crew’s education, ranks and awards, but also dedicated a significant amount of time and effort to design and implement a ship’s personnel database using Google spreadsheet templates that allows for automatic tracking, based on current education completed and time in grade requirements, of upcoming promotion eligibility status for each member of the crew. In addition to his work of specific benefit to HMS Callisto, he has also made a point of sharing his personnel database templates with our “sister” ship, the GNS Madrigal, and even stepped up to take on the position of Commanding Officer of the Isaiah Mackenzie Naval Academy Enlisted Training Center for the GSN.

The Chief has also regularly assisted the ship in in other ways, including helping with the design and purchase of table banners, banner stands and parade signs.

SMCPM Underhill, I commend you for your hard work and dedication to both the TRMN and your ship. You have done yourself, and your ship, proud.

For Grayson, the Keys, the Sword, and the Tester
Captain (GSN) Jenni Merrifield
Commanding Officer
HMS Callisto (BC-722)
